11 arrested for Khayelitsha murders

Police swooped in and arrested eleven suspects following a weekend of bloodshed in Khayelitsha.

They were arrested on Monday morning at a hotel in Sea Point.

The masked suspects allegedly went on a shooting rampage and shot over a dozen people in Site B on Saturday night.

Nine people died on the scene and four died in hospital. Five other people are still recovering in hospital.

The shootings are believed to be linked to extortion rackets. The Khayelitsha Development Forum is

calling for residents to remain vigilant in the wake of these murders.
