Activists demand justice for Lindani Myeni
A badge should not be a license to kill.
That’s the impassioned call by a group of American community activists, mobilising support in the wake of Lindani Myeni’s death. The South African rugby player was shot dead by Honolulu Police two weeks ago, after a 911 complaint about an attempted burglary.
Investigations into what transpired that fateful night are ongoing. But his family and supporters want accountability for his death. They are demanding that the police department release all evidence immediately, and hold the government of Hawaii accountable for misconduct.
In an Etv News exclusive, Georgina Thompson, from the Justice for Lindani Myeni campaign, claimed that in a press conference, the Honolulu police celebrated using excessive force.
