Africa explores vaccine-making capacity
21st Century illnesses have thrust Africa’s lack of vaccine manufacturing capacity, into the spotlight.
The continent relies largely on Europe, North America and India for its vaccines.
But this week the African Union took a step towards ensuring that we become more self-sufficient regarding vaccine development.
However a leading vaccinologist says political commitments are far from what’s needed to get meaningful manufacturing up and running.
