Alcohol puts pressure on trauma units

Dr Zweli Mkhize has justified the decision by president Cyril Ramaphosa to ban the selling of alcohol. 

Studies have shown that since the lift of the alcohol ban, some provinces have had an increase in trauma cases. 

The ban on alcohol was put in place to free hospital beds. 

Annika Larsen spoke to Dr Andrew Nicol, the ER Director at Groote Schuur Hospital, to find out about the pressures alcohol-related cases put on trauma units.
