All illegal initiation schools must be shut down

All illegal initiation schools must be shut down with immediate effect.

That’s the word from the CRL Rights Commission.

It’s also one of a few recommendations the body has made in a bid to curb initiation school deaths.

The commission held urgent talks this week to look at ways of addressing the problem.

So far 34 initiates have died in the Eastern Cape since the summer initiation season started.
