AmaZulu nation mourns loss of Queen
Still reeling after the death of King Goodwill Zwelithini more than a month ago, the AmaZulu nation is now mourning its regent,
Queen Shiyiwe Mantfombi Dlamini Zulu. The cause of her death is not known but she was admitted to hospital a week ago.
The 65 year old monarch became interim leader of the AmaZulu after her husband’s death last month.
Queen Mantfombi had eight children, including five sons, with the late king.
It’s believed she held the highest status among the king's wives as she came from royalty.
The queen's death is not just a loss for the AmaZulu nation though.
On Friday cultural expert and a relative of the queen Pitika Ntuli explained just how personal the loss is for him.
