COVID-19 knocks global job market
The global job market has taken its biggest ever knock in the past year since the Great Depression of the 1930s.
The International Labour Organization (ILO) estimated that unemployment increased by 1.1% globally because of the coronavirus pandemic.
This means that 33 million more people lost their jobs in 2020, many of them women and young people.
The ILO also noted that 8.8% of global working hours were lost because of lockdown restrictions.
