Crèche at the center of abuse probe to be shut

A crèche in Joburg's Alexandra township, which is at the centre of a child abuse probe, is not registered with the Gauteng Social Development

Department. That's according to department officials, who told etv news and sport that the daycare centre is in contravention of the Children's Act.

The crèche is being investigated after a teacher allegedly scalded a toddler with boiling water in January.

She’s facing attempted murder charges and appeared in court on Thursday. 

The department's Feziwe Ndwayana says the crèche will be shut down.
