Edenvale hospice pleads for help
It may be a new year, but the problems inflicted by the Covid-19 pandemic continue to affect countless people, who’re doing the jobs that very few will.
Marlene Hooper is a retiree who’s running the Edenvale hospice in Johannesburg. The centre cares for terminally ill cancer, HIV/Aids and TB patients.
The centre relies on donations and funding from the provincial health department. But, last September the department cut its funding, leaving Hooper, her staff and their patients destitute.
