How does the COVID-19 alert app work

President Cyril Ramaphosa has called on all South Africans to download government's new coronavirus contact-tracing app to help curb the spread of the virus as the country moves to lockdown level 1.

To tell us more about the App and how it works we spoke to Gaurang Tanna, the head of Policy co-ordination and Integrated Planning at the National Health Department.
