Job cuts on the cards at SAA
Government has bailed out SAA to the tune of billions of Rand. The airline has failed to make a profit since 2011. And now they're planning to cut almost a thousand jobs, as part of a restructuring plan. While unions are up in arms claiming a lack of consultation, some say these job cuts are long overdue. Meanwhile the airline's interim C-O-O, Deon Fredericks, says contingency measures are in place to ensure possible disruptions are kept to a minimum. But, Fredericks warns that a total shut down will be detrimental to the future of SAA.
