Pharmacies' vaccine readiness
South Africa’s Phase 2 vaccine drive is underway. Around 200 000 Pfizer jabs have been delivered so far. But those jabs are being delivered at an average of 24,000 a day, nationally.
According to the Bhekisisa Centre for Health Journalism that’s half of the national daily target. By Friday 1800 vaccine sites had received permits to operate. But when will they start administering the jabs?
Jackie Maimin, the CEO of the Independent Community Pharmacy Association meanwhile says about 27 independent pharmacies are currently delivering vaccines at the moment, and more will follow.
