Police stations under attack?

Police union Popcru is urgently calling on the SAPS to bolster resources and security at police stations. It says they've become unsafe for both their members and communities.

This comes after a Northern Cape police staion became a crime scene over the weekend. Three men held a police officer who was alone on duty up at gunpoint.

The union’s national spokesperson Richard Mamabolo confirmed that the suspects  fled with R5 rifles, pump action shotguns, handguns and ammunition.

The Hawks today confirmed that one man has been arrested, after the police station in the Northern Cape was robbed
of its guns on Saturday. Thankfully, all stolen items have since been recovered.
