Prisoners to be reunited with family

For the first time in nine months, prisoners will be able to see family, friends, and their lawyers.

The visits start this weekend, but under strict conditions.

The correctional service department's adjusted level one strategy, was gazetted on Monday and visitation bookings opened this week.

The relaxed rules will apply to all prisons.  Correctional Services spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo,

says inmates will now be allowed two visits per month, with one visitor at a time.
