Rodrigues case could go to ConCourt
The death of apartheid era policeman Joao Rodrigues means he may not be tried for the murder of anti-apartheid activist Ahmed Timol.
That’s according to his lawyer Ben Minnaar. 82-year-old Rodrigues died last night after battling with his health.
In June this year the Supreme Court of Appeal dismissed Rodrigues’ bid for a permanent stay of prosecution for Timol’s 1971 murder.
But Minnaar says despite his death they could still take their fight to the Constitutional Court.
