SA engineer bags Mercedes F1 job

Not many people get to work with their childhood heroes. But Johannesburg-born Shau Mafuna is one step closer to achieving this dream. 

He recently landed the job of a lifetime working as a mechanical engineer at Mercedes-AMG High-Performance Powertrains, the division of its Formula One team. His next goal is to work alongside F1 great, Lewis Hamilton. 

Mafuna chatted with our reporter Rianté Padayachee about his exciting new adventure.
