SA's unemployed doctors
It takes almost a decade to qualify as a medical professional.
But in a time where doctors are stretched extremely thin on the Covid-19 frontlines, hundreds of qualified, unemployed South African doctors are sitting at home.
After months of waiting, the National Health Department says that from today some of these doctors will be allocated to hospitals, where they’ll carry out their two-year internship. But currently there aren’t enough posts available for them all.
