South Africans return home to uncertainty
This past week hundreds of South Africans were stuck on the tarmac at OR Tambo International Airport
for several hours after returning from the US. Nikkie Ross, one of the South Africans who returned,
joined us via Skype to tell us more about the difficulties she experienced.
Other South Africans who arrived from the US, claim they were taken to the wrong quarantine facilities.
They also say they were taken to a building with no electricity. The Department of Public Works is responsible for this operation.
To give us a sense of what’s being done to address some of the issues, we were joined by Public Works Minister, Patricia De Lille.
