Teen rescued after being trafficked

A horrific story of abuse in Heidelberg in Gauteng has emerged.

A 13-year-old girl has been rescued in an undercover operation after her step-mother and step-grandmother tried to sell her as a sex slave to a human trafficking syndicate for R40 million. The young girl has now in a place of safety while the pair, aged 36 and 57, appeared in court today.

Earlier Hawks spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Philani Nkwalase explained how the Hawks team saved the child from an unimaginable future.
