A tough task for Zuma

It’s going to be a tough mountain to climb for Jacob Zuma’s legal team to avoid him being arrested. Analysts say Zuma’s chances of success to get the Pietermaritzburg High Court to stay his arrest is looking increasingly slim.

Zuma faces 15 months in prison after the Constitutional Court found guilty of contempt of court last week. Much of today’s argument centres around whether or not the high court has the jurisdiction to hear the matter.

Legal analyst Kelly Phelps says Zuma’s legal counsel Advocate Dali Mpofu tried to separate the court order from the execution of the order.
