UIF tracing missing COVID-19 millions
Companies which received money through the COVID-19 Unemployment Relief Scheme, should keep their financial records ready.
Auditors may soon be knocking on their doors. The Unemployment Insurance Fund is hitting the ground this week,
with seven auditing and forensic firms to track the money. They’re checking the authenticity of employers’ claims
and verifying whether the money was in fact paid to workers.
To unpack the money trail, we were joined by Marsha Bronkhorst. She is the UIF’s acting commissioner.
