Will the PP be impeached?

Impeachment could be on the cards for Public Protector Busiswe Mkhwebane.

An independent panel has found that there is a prima facie case for her removal.

The panel recommended that Parliament institute removal proceedings.

The DA, who first brought the motion for impeachment, has welcomed the panel's 119-page report.

The report alleges Mkhwebane overreach of her powers, in terms of the constitution.

Parliament's spokesperson, Moloto Mothapo, says members of parliament will be given the opportunity to study

the contents of the report first, before the recommendations, are formally considered.
