World first: J&J responds well to Delta

Results from the Sisonke J&J study has provided world-first evidence that the single-jab shot provides effective protection against both the Delta and Beta COVID-19 variants.

The study also found that the vaccine is effective against severe illness and death. Almost half a million healthcare workers received this vaccine as part of the study earlier this year.

Sisonke vaccine trial co-lead investigator Linda-Gail Bekker says the study will go a long way in assuring South Africans that vaccines are safe to use.
