Bad hair day for Clicks

An advert by one of Mzansi’s health and beauty retailers, Clicks, has caused a social media storm.

The retailer came under fire when it posted a series of pictures on haircare categories on its website.  

Clicks labelled black natural hair as dry and damaged, and compared it to straight blonde hair, which it labelled fine and flat.

Clicks has since issued an apology,saying that it goes against the company’s beliefs. 

To discuss this further, we chatted to anti-racism and decolonisation activist Zulaikha Patel.
