Free speech vs hate speech
The twelve-year-old matter over a homophobic letter by South Africa’s former ambassador to Uganda, made its way to the Constitutional Court on Tuesday.
Jon Qwelane's letter caused an uproar, which landed him in court. While the article was eventually declared hate speech, Qwelane challenged this decision in several courts, before it headed to the country's highest court.
