Remembering Ahmed Timol, 49 years later

Today marks 49 years since the death of anti-apartheid activist Ahmed Timol.

Timol was detained in a roadblock in 1971. 

Days later, apartheid police claimed he had committed suicide, by jumping to his death from the 10th floor of the notorious John Vorster Square prison.

Now the ANC has announced its decision to work with families to ensure justice in TRC cases.
