AG Kimi Makwetu has died

Auditor-General Kimi Makwetu has died.

Makwetu’s term as auditor-general would have concluded at the end of this month.

He was appointed in 2013 by former President Jacob Zuma and replaced Terrence Nombembe.

During his seven year stint, Makwetu was a vocal critic of corruption within government.
