Court rules tobacco ban is unlawful

The ban on the sale of tobacco products during the hard lockdown, is inconsistent with the Constitution and therefore unlawful.

That’s according to a full bench of the Western Cape High Court, which ruled on the matter on Friday.

The South Africa Tobacco Transformation Alliance says, while it feels vindicated by the ruling

it still has concerns about the true impact, the ban has had on the industry.
