The perils of crossing a river in E Cape

The Intsika Yethu municipal manager, Siyabulela Koyo, is concerned, after a video of a woman with a child on her back crossing a river,

with just the help of a steel pole, circulated on social media. The river is located in Cofimvaba in the Eastern Cape. 

Koyo, who joined us via Zoom, says the situation was made worse, by recent heavy rains in the area.

He says they are looking at temporarily and long-term measures to fix the crossing.
