Student protests spread to Free State

24 students have been arrested after protests spread to Bloemfontein in the Free State this week.

Students are unhappy with the registration process at the University of the Free State and the issue of financial exclusion.

Professor Francis Petersen, the rector and vice-chancellor at the university,

says they have plans in place assist students who qualify to study, but can’t afford to register.
