Prof Salim Abdool Karim steps down

After an unprecedented year, leading South Africa’s COVID-19 advisory committee,

Prof Salim Abdool Karim has decided to step down. The passionate scientist and academic

says he is returning to his HIV research and innovation work and that this was his decision.

In a conversation with Melanie Rice he says this is a ‘good time’ to step down

And he is confident with the team of scientists he leaves behind

to continue with the fight against COVID-19.
