Justice for forced sterilisation of SA women
As South Africa commemorates Human Rights month, the rights of women living with HIV have come into sharp focus.
In February 2020, the Commission for Gender Equality released its findings, into the forced sterilisation
of women living with HIV in public health facilities. The Commission found that complainants,
were not provided with adequate knowledge on the sterilisation procedure, before being asked to consent.
On Thursday the Her Rights Initiative held a briefing, demanding justice for the affected women.
To tell us more, we were joined by Sethembiso Mthembu, the founder of Her Rights Initiative.
She says she wants to see justice for the women.
