#JusticeForLufuno: Bullying not taken seriously
This week a 15 year-old Limpopo girl was arrested and charged with assault.
She was caught on cellphone video footage, assaulting a fellow pupil, Lufuno Mavhungu who's since died,
in an apparent suicide in Thohoyandou. But many of us have seen what bullying does.
We’ve either been the bully or were bullied. But what is the legal recourse?
Joy van der Hyde from Van Dyk Roelf Attorneys, who joined us to give us some advice,
says currently, there is no such crime as “bullying” and most of the time comes down to harassment or assault.
While the matter is currently being investigated, some tweeps suggest parents, also allow their children to watch the alleged bullying video
and engage in conversations with them about the impact of bullying. To talk about family ties to bullying,
we were joined by Talya Ressel, family therapist & social worker.
