UPDATE: Firefighters battling raging CT fires

Cape firefighters have been battling a raging fire on the slopes of Table Mountain since yesterday.

Residents in affected areas have been evacuated after the fire started spreading rapidly.

Hundreds of students were evacuated from UCT’s residences yesterday, as the blaze spread across the mountain.

Parts of the university including a library and the iconic Rhodes Memorial suffered major damage.
