Celebrating Uyinene

Uyinene Mrwetyana would have celebrated her 21st birthday today. But her life was tragically cut short in August 2019.

The UCT student was raped and murdered by a Post Office employee who is currently serving three life sentences for his crimes.

Uyinene will be remembered for her authentic nature and for being true to others.

To further reflect on Uyinene’s life we spoke to her uncle Thembelani Mrwetyana.

He says they have started with a number of initiatives to honour the late Mrwetyana.
