Charges against Zimbabwean journalist dropped

A victory for Zimbabwean journalist, Hopewell Chin’ono.

The renowned journalist has been vindicated after Zimbabwe’s High Court revoked a criminal charge filed against him by the State.

The freelance journalist was arrested in January on charges of communicating falsehoods after tweeting that a Zimbabwean police officer,

killed a nine-month-old baby with his baton. Yesterday, however, the high court dismissed the charge saying it had no legal basis.

Chin’ono has celebrated the ruling but in his chat with us he mentioned that he will continue fighting the good fight.
