Novavax COVID-19 vaccine trial results

As South Africa braces for a third wave of the COVID pandemic, news of any scientific advancement heralds hope for the future. Biotech firm, Novavax, has announced that its vaccine could be key in stopping severe cases and deaths, caused by the B1.351 variant.

The results were published in the New England Journal of Medicine this week after a study of around 2 700 volunteers in South Africa.

Professor Shabir Madhi, who is leading that study says that there is now evidence that the Novavax vaccine could be vital in South Africa's fight against COVID.
