IPPs elated over relaxed power generation laws
Yesterday, President Cyril Ramaphosa lifted the threshold for companies to produce their own electricity to 100-megawatts.
This came a surprise to independent power producers.
They say it’s a welcomed change which they’ve been lobbying for, for years.
Many IPPs have already laid the groundwork to begin electricity generation but this doesn’t mean we can expect to see additional power added to our national grid anytime soon.
