MPs want answers on irregular spending

Yesterday’s release of the Auditor-general’s findings for our 257 municipalities came as a shock to many.

Around R5.5 billion in ratepayers' and taxpayers' money is unaccounted for while another R26 billion was irregularly spent.

Only 27 municipalities received clean audits. To discuss the findings we had a chat to Sakhumzi Somyo, chairperson of Parliament's Standing

Committee on the Auditor-General. He says these numbers are unbearable and not welcoming at all.
