Workers to get another lifeline
There’s a small sigh of relief for people who have lost their income during the latest move to lockdown level 4. The COVID-19 Ters fund is being booted up again. Government, labour and business have agreed to extend the temporary relief scheme.
Matthew Parks, Cosatu’s Parliamentary coordinator says the nuts and bolts still need to be worked out and the decision still needs a final thumbs up from the national coronavirus command council and cabinet.
Parks says they are hopeful that those affected by the regulations will be able to submit applications for relief by the 19th of July at the latest.
