Undertakers worried about coffin shortages
Undertakers, especially in the Western Cape have raised concerns about a pending shortage of coffins.
The concerns come amid a dramatic increase in deaths from COVID-19 related complications within the last few weeks.
The World Health Organization says infections in Africa have increased over the past month with the death rate rising by 15% across 38 African countries.
The South African Funeral Practioners Association's spokesperson, Monageng Legae says they are under pressure and alarmed by what they are seeing.
