RASA says no to level 4 lockdown extension
The South African restaurant industry is still reeling from the impact of the level five lockdown last year.
It’s hoping for some kind of relief when the National Coronavirus Command Council meets on Sunday. If level four restrictions, which include a ban on sit-down restaurant services and alcohol sales continue, the list of eateries which have had to close their doors for good, could grow even longer.
The Restaurant Association’s Wendy Alberts says this list is spiraling out of control. RASA has written an open letter to the president pleading with him for a return to April restrictions which allowed sit-down services with strict protocols.
