Life Esidimeni inquest resumes

More disturbing details have emerged, from today’s hearings at the Life Esidimeni inquest in Johannesburg. Doctor Basuku Mkhatshwa, the former managing director of the Life Esidimeni group was in the hotseat today. 

The inquest is looking into the deaths of 144 mental health patients, who were moved from Life Esidimeni to inadequate NGOs in 2016, and who died in dismal conditions.
