COVID relief grant payments investigated
Over 11 million people in South Africa have been given the green light to receive the R350 COVID social relief grant.
However, it has recently come to light that more than 30 000 people wrongfully benefited from the stipend.
In monetary terms that adds up to a whopping R11 million. Sassa then investigated all beneficiaries
after a report by the Auditor General earlier this year revealed that more than 60 000 people,
inappropriately benefited from the grant and that cost the country almost R23 million.
Sassa Spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi says investigations into these matters are still ongoing.
