DA accuses IEC of bending the rules

Today’s Constitutional Court judgment has not gone down well with the DA. The party maintains the IEC is bending the rules in favour of the ANC.

The DA took the IEC to court to have the decision to reopen the election candidate nomination process reversed. But the ConCourt ruled

today that the decision was not unlawful or invalid. This means the ANC can now submit their lists after initially missing the deadline.

DA spokesperson Siviwe Gwarube says the IEC must maintain its consistency and integrity.
