Mthethwa: 'Every cent should go to artists'

An independent investigation into COVID relief funds meant for artists has revealed shocking mismanagement.

The report found that some applicants who were approved were given more than they applied for. It also showed that over 55% of the approved beneficiaries did not receive a cent.

Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa has promised that beneficiaries who were approved for pay-outs will be paid. He also warned of consequences for those behind the mismanagement.

The chairperson of the SA Guild of Actors Jack Devnarain in turn says it was not surprised by the news.
