Stop stashing the cash

Cashless card tapping and smartphones have helped us stay safer during this pandemic.

But for the majority of South Africans cash is still king. That's according to the Payments Association of South Africa.

About one in five South Africans do not have bank accounts while between two and five million micro businesses operate on a cash only basis.

The Association’s CEO Ghita Erling has called on government and the private sector to introduce low cost digital payment services to make electronic payment services more accessible.
