Diabetes, the silent killer

It’s the number one cause of blindness, amputations and a range of other health complications like chronic kidney disease. But in the Western Cape thousands are walking the streets undiagnosed.

Provincial health is raising awareness around diabetes this week in the wake of World Diabetes Day on Sunday. To improve research and chronic patient care a state-of-the-art Diabetes Centre has opened at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town.
