President Cyril Ramaphosa unveiled a 9-meter statue in his honour.
Tambo would have turned 103-years-old today.

The Democratic Alliance previously opposed the commissioning of the statue,
saying the final cost of the statue is about R11.5 million of taxpayers' money.
An African studies scholar from the University of Pretoria says it is important to honour heroes like Oliver Tambo.

But along with other South Africans she is asking whether that money could have been better spent.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has approved two new laws related to civil unions.
Under the new laws, marriage officers may no longer object to officiating a civil union, between a same sex couple. The original act contained a clause, which allowed officials the right to refuse marrying a couple, based on their beliefs.

Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, is in the Constitutional Court to appeal the decision which set aside her findings of former Bosasa boss Gavin Watson's
donation to Cyril Ramaphosa’s CR17 bid for the ANC's presidency.

Mkhwebane found that Ramaphosa had deliberately misled the National Assembly about the donation.

She argued that the president exposed himself to a risk of conflict between his official duties and private interests.
