Today marks exactly one year since the Springboks lifted the Webb Ellis trophy after a thrilling final, against England at the 2019 Rugby World Cup In Tokyo.

The 32-12 victory set the tone for what would ultimately be one of the best rugby fan experiences to date.

Today marks 31 years since the Battle of Athlone in which Umkhonto we Sizwe operative,
Anton Fransch was killed in an epic gun battle.
Fransch fought against apartheid’s security police for nearly eight hours,
defending himself with hand-grenades and a machine gun.
He was 20-years-old at the time of his death.

Jazz Artist, Gloria Bosman has paid tribute to the late legendary jazz and opera legend,
Dr Sibongile Khumalo. She died after having stroke-related complications on Thursday.

The creator of the soap opera Generations, Mfundi Vundla, has paid tribute to South African actor, Menzi Ngubane. Ngubane, who was well-known for his roles in Generations and Gazlam, died from a stroke this past weekend.
Vundla who worked with Ngubane on several productions remembered him for his professionalism, efficiency and talent.

She says she hope the current leaders and South Africans study and adopt lessons from her life.

The CEO of Artscape Theatre, Marlene Le Roux has described the late Sharleen Surtie-Richards as an icon and legend. Surtie-Richards was found dead in a guest house in Cape Town on Monday morning. She was among South Africa's most celebrated actors and has won several accolades during her career including a Fleur de Cap Theatre Award.

Condolences are pouring in from across the country following the passing of legendary musician Tsepo Tshola. Tshola died after being hospitalised for COVID-19.
He was 67-years old. The Village Pope, as he was known rose to prominence with popular group Sankomota in the 1980s. His illustrious career in the music industry spanned just over four decades. For more on his career we spoke to Dr Sipho Sithole the founder of Native Rhythms.

The life of anti-apartheid activist Dulcie September will come to life at the 15th Annual Women’s Humanity Arts Festival
which takes place at the Artscape in Cape Town this month. Dulcie September played an influential role in fighting the apartheid regime and was assassinated in March 1988 outside the ANC’s Paris office. Award-winning actress Denise Newman will play the role of September in a play called ‘Cold Case – Dulcie September Re-Visited’.
